Premiership Football: Reviewing the season so far

So far, it has been a fantastic season of Premiership football. We’ve witnessed fantastic goals, fantastic results and fantastic disasters. So, how has the season gone so far for the teams in the Premier League? Here’s our review of how the season has gone so far, for the most noteworthy teams!

Premiership Football: Manchester City

This season, Manchester City’s decision to pursue and hire Pep Guardiola seems to have paid off: First in the league, a record-breaking run of top-flight victories, magnificent results weekly and a team fit to challenge the huge teams in Europe. They seem genuinely unstoppable at the moment. To use an unimaginative phrase, the title is in their hands at this point. Nobody expected them to be so good despite the money they’ve spent. It looks likely that they’ll go on to win the title, perhaps break some records in the process.

Premiership Football: Chelsea

Last season, Conte had a huge impact on Chelsea, leading them to a fantastic title following their dismal performance the season before. As is often the case at Chelsea in recent years, he has gone from huge success to barely clinging onto his job. Whilst this makes it sound like Chelsea are performing extremely badly, they’re not actually doing too badly in terms of position: 3rd in the league. It’s notable that they’re already 14 points behind the leaders in the league table, however; this could, of course, be down to the fact that Manchester City have been exceptional. Are Chelsea going to improve and retain the title? Chelsea have won 4 in the last 5, their form isn’t too bad at all. It’s unlikely that they’ll be able to catch Manchester City unless they significantly lose form.

Premiership Football: Burnley

Burnley finished a respectable 16th in the 2016-2017 season, ensuring that they’d be able to take part in consecutive seasons in the English top flight for the first time since 1976. This impressive feat meant that the Clarets fans would expect to stay up for another year. They’ve started well, to say the least: they’re currently 6th in the league, a meagre 2 points out of the top 4. One of the often-touted reasons behind their success is the fact that they consistently select the same team of players. This evidently has allowed the team to work much better together. So, can they continue to exceed expectations? The signs so far say yes. Their form is more than luck: togetherness and strong work ethic has enhanced these players.

Premiership Football: Everton

A 7th place in the Premier League meant that Ronald Koeman had met the expectations of Everton supporters in his first season, perhaps even exceeding them. Spending over £100 million in the summer was expected to guarantee another top 6 finish at the least. However, Everton haven’t met expectations this year: a completely calamitous start to the season left Everton in the relegation zone after 9 games. With Ronald Koeman sacked, an unfulfilling 5-week spell for caretaker manager David Unsworth and Sam Allardyce – aka Big Sam – appointed, can Everton get back on track and achieve their original goals? After just 5 games (4 of them victories), the club are now 9th in the Premier League.

The staff  were extremely friendly and bubbly, and ensured that the event ran smoothly right from the set up through to the de rig at the end of the evening. Right from the start the ATM Events team were brilliant at working with us to plan and co-ordinate a successful event even given the event had a very short time frame.
