Boxing Anthony Joshua: about Joshua

Anthony Joshua was born on October 15, 1989, in Watford. Following the divorce of his parents when he was 12 years old, he returned to the UK from Nigeria and started attending the Kings Langley Secondary School. From this age, it was obvious that Joshua had the potential to be a successful sportsman, as he excelled at football and athletics. One particular standout feat was Joshua breaking his school’s year nine 100m record with a time of 11.6 seconds.

During school, Joshua didn’t start boxing. In fact, he was a latecomer to the sport that he is now one of the world’s best in. He began boxing in 2007 aged 18 after his cousin suggested that he might want to take it up. As an amateur, he did experience some almost immediate success; he won the 2009 and 2010 Haringey Box Cup, and he also won the senior ABA Championships in 2010. As a result of this success, he was selected to take a place on the GB Boxing team in 2010. All in all, Joshua had an amateur record of 40-3.

2012 Olympic Games

The defining moment of Joshua’s amateur career had to be the 2012 Olympic Games. As a member of the GB team, he ended up winning against Roberto Cammarelle, the at the time reigning Olympic Champion, to earn his first and only Olympic Games gold medal.

Boxing Anthony Joshua: Thriving on the professional scene

Anthony Joshua’s first professional fight was against Emanuele Leo at the O2 Arena, London, on October 5, 2013. Winning this fight by knocking out his opponent, he has since gone on to win all of his subsequent 21 professional fights he has taken place in, with 20 more wins by knockout and 1 by decision.

In the 23rd fight of his professional career versus Jarrell Miller, Anthony Joshua will find himself fighting to retain the WBA (super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. If you fancy watching what promises to be a highly exciting fight in person on June 1st, consider corporate hospitality. This offers by far the best viewing experience, so it’s crucial for big fans of boxing and the two boxers taking part in particular.

Right from the start the ATM Events team were brilliant at working with us to plan and co-ordinate a successful event even given the event had a very short time frame.
