Liverpool FC: The VIP Experience
The 2017-18 season was an exciting one for Liverpool, you can’t deny that; their 56th consecutive season in the top flight of English football was possibly one of the most exciting that they’ve experienced in recent times. Although their lack of trophies isn’t anything to shout about, they undeniably made significant improvements throughout the season, with a Champion’s League final the cherry on top of their year; it’s a shame Real Madrid spoilt that party for them! However, that’s all in the past now; everyone is looking forward to the 18-19 season.
Liverpool Corporate Hospitality: Season in a nutshell
In the Premier League, Liverpool finished 4th, with 75 points. They won 21, drew 12, and lost 5. That means that they were second only to Manchester City in lack of loses, as City only lost 2. Ultimately, it was the draws that let Liverpool down, stopping them from finishing higher in the league; only six other teams drew the same amount or more, with none of the other teams finishing in the top 6.
Despite drawing plenty of games, Liverpool scored more goals than every team but Manchester City. On the other hand, they also conceded more goals than any of the other teams in the top 4. Liverpool know that they’re going to have to become better defensively next season, or they won’t be able to build on what they’ve achieved.
In terms of actual achievements, Liverpool finished in the top 4 for the second season in a row. This is the first consecutive top 4 finishes since the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons for Liverpool, so this is a notable achievement for Jurgen Klopp’s side. In addition to this achievement, they also did something that an English team hasn’t done since Chelsea, way back in the 2011-2012 season: made their way to the Champion’s League final. Although this didn’t end in a Liverpool victory, it was still a significant run of form from a team that many wouldn’t have been surprised to see go out in the group stage.
Overall, 2017-2018 was a successful season for Liverpool, regardless of the fact that they haven’t won a trophy. Finishing in a Champion’s League spot is enough to qualify them for next year’s major European competition, and the run to the final is something that excited fans immensely.
